Do not tractor inside the Abyssea, you will get kicked out in 5 min after accepting a Tractor and no way to stop it.

I believe this should move to the Quests section rather than the mission section. Nightshader 03:15, June 23, 2010 (UTC)

-it was in the quest section then someone deleted Abyssea from Quests and moved it to missions Defiledsickness

Reverted main page back to my last edit please review before changing back, and see what the quest progression turns out to be --Icari 17:22, June 23, 2010 (UTC)

I believe this should be called Abyssea Quests due to the fact that this is what is used in game. JMorgan 06:33, June 24, 2010 (UTC)

I think that in time when we get the other expansions we can see how things are labeled and go from there. I see no harm in the page name as it is now. --Icari 10:41, June 24, 2010 (UTC)

Just a thought, but I don't think quests like "Hope Blooms on the Battlefeld" and "Of Malnourished Martellos" should be listed as part of the main branch of mission/quests. They seem to be independent of the main storyline as I completed both of these before continuing on the actual storyline and activating To Paste a Pieste, placing them numerically out of the order they're currently listed. Maybe a table like this listed in Abyssea quests would make more sense. Doluka 17:45, June 24, 2010 (UTC)

I have not done these quests myself, so i cant really say, but it sounds somewhat like the WoTG quests/missions where each nation has missions and questions, but here it is each zone not nation. Lets see what else we find out about the quest series before we decide. --Icari 17:51, June 24, 2010 (UTC)

Added some more quests. Icari is correct in that this seems to be setup like the WoTG Campaign Operations. This expansion really doesn't have any "missions". Some formatting needs to be done. Avotas 20:23, June 25, 2010 (UTC)

format change?[]

I have a question on the individual quest/mission top listing format for the individual Abssyea and Category:Vision of Abyssea Quests.. specifically the column "Type": what seriously is useful about saying "General"? What does general mean to anyone, what does is clarify/specify? The fact of the matter is that these quests are all fame based and have increasingly higher fame requirements to receive the quests.... So why not change the obtuse/obscure/useless reference "general" and simply use fame requirements/rankings in the type column? User:Endlesspath 2:57am est 7/19/2010

It is like that for all city/nation/etc pages, the whole community would have to agree on a change before that would be done and would have to be done on all pages that are listed as such. also please put new comments at the bottom of the page, helps with flow when reading a talk page. --Icari 09:12, July 19, 2010 (UTC)

Its fairly apparent that there is no interest the "powers that be" in resolving the current uselessness of quest type regarding the Abyssea quests. I guess format and syntax in the old routine manner is good enough for the paper shufflers. Maybe some one can cut and paste the page and put in fame ranking/requirments so we could make better use of it, and dump this current setup on the trash heap? User:Endlesspath 4:33am est July 19, 2010.

This issue does not just relate to the abyssea quests, it is on all city pages as well which is why i dont support changing it here as it will look out of place. If we change it here all pages setup like this should be changed. --Icari 10:28, July 20, 2010 (UTC)

Heaven forbid we actually want to improve anything to make it more useful; that would involve work.. so lets just keep things they way they are and just like maybe have yet another page we'd have to goto - I mean, yeah I love bouncing all over the place trying to find an answer. user:Endlesspath 5:26am est July 21, 2010.

Alright - this relates to the Abyssea experience point building alliances (parties) and the methodology to gather "light's". My interest is in providing additional information on what "lights" the normal mobs 'drop' in exp'g there. Not all mobs drop all lights (e.g., Physical Lights (Pearlescent/Ruby)-Magical Lights(Azure/Amber)), and it would help to have some information on that. My suggestion is to either add another section to the header {Lights dropped?} or to simply modify the notes section to include symbols "pearl/ruby/azure/amber". Please refer to the 'Regular Monsters found here' section of each of the Abyssea - La Theine, Abyssea - Konschtat and Abyssea - Tahrongi pages. User:Endlesspath 4:02pm August 3, 2010 (EST)

Since it is not proved this information is best on a talk page like the table below on NM weaknesses, once it is proved then we can consider moving it to a main page. --Icari 10:25, August 4, 2010 (UTC)

Icari, do you play this game? Have you every had an ally exp pt in any of the Aby areas? - I have done this multiple times... and yes, just read the multiple/voluminous statements by other players of this game that have done the Aby ally exp pt. My whole point is why this wiki database is setup: to share the experience learned from FFXI. The "light" issue from various mobs is very documented now (e.g., even though you can kill bats & mandies via ws, they do not give off the ruby light[1]). [User:Endlesspath] 4am August 5 2010.

i will now ignore what you say as you think i am an idiot, yes i play this game and i have been in abyssea for exp alliances and i follow what goes on in several forums about this game and i have not see anyone agree on what mobs give what lights, do whatever the hell you want to you dont care what others think anyway. --Icari 09:13, August 5, 2010 (UTC)

I would like to propose changing the format of this page, the mission/numbered system is confusing as most of these quests are not prerequisite to each other Tekniques 23:29, June 25, 2010 (UTC)

Agreed, whoever put these up like this obviously never even touched the content and was just making wild guesses --Urth 09:09, June 26, 2010 (UTC)

Then why are each quest listed as done after the last one on the quest pages? --Icari 13:55, June 26, 2010 (UTC)

  • Because the same dumbass who made this page altered those pages to say what he believed rather than what's true --Urth 03:49, June 28, 2010 (UTC)

It appears that there is a uniform progression of the following quests: A Journey Begins -> The Truth Beckons -> Dawn of Death -> To Paste a Peiste/Goldstruck Gigas/Megadrile Menace -> ??? The Forbidden Frontier ->???

All other quests (so far) seem to be fame based. I propose to separate the storyline quests above and the fame based quests. I propose to use the quest format used in the other quest pages. Tekniques 18:54, June 26, 2010 (UTC)

-i changed it to quests and you guys put it back. quit screwing it up the only ones you can possibly label as Missions when they're ONLY under quests in game, are the ones started from the guy in jeuno. quit changing it just because it looks cooler.

This page definitely needs rework. There are story based quests, with a clear progression, and there are fame/repeatable quests. They should not be listed in progression with the rest of the "story" ones. The wings/toau progression doesnt yet apply and shouldnt be presented as such. -Dracko 20:12, June 28, 2010 (UTC)

My question which no one has yet answered is why are the quests listed to progress to others on their individual pages if they are not linked together, and to the above people I have them listed as QUESTS not missions on the page. If they do progress in some order then imo this table does make sense. But if you wish to change it propose a new format on the talk page and see what people think of it. --Icari 20:15, June 28, 2010 (UTC)

I did answer your question, look up the page a little. The person who made those pages was an idiot who didn't know what he was doing. I have changed all those quest pages to reflect the fact that they are standalone quests. --Urth 20:20, June 28, 2010 (UTC)

This page could stil list the standalone quests, just not as a progression list. Idk, seems like people enjoy having edit wars over silly things. I would leave the "main" story quests the way it is now, and list the stand alone quests below he chart. Dunno why SE made the "story" a quest and not a mission.-Dracko 20:49, June 28, 2010 (UTC)

I really dont appreciate you calling me an idiot for making changes to this wiki page that you dont agree with. --Icari 01:16, June 29, 2010 (UTC)

Well, do at least SOME research next time, k? --Urth 01:22, June 29, 2010 (UTC)

I was looking at the quests as they were added to the wiki, at the time I did not have a chance to get ingame and do them quests myself and assumed the info on the wiki was correct. --Icari 01:24, June 29, 2010 (UTC) [blame being bored at work and nothing else to do :P ]

Added La Theine Table to get the ball rolling, please help clean it up and add the other zones, if you have a cleaner/better format please assist thank you. Tekniques 01:38, June 29, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I can understand that. I'm mostly annoyed at the person who made the quest pages that way in the first place. --Urth 03:41, June 29, 2010 (UTC)

You know your comments really hurt, when someone is just trying to help, you make them feel worthless and not want to work on this wiki. --Icari 09:55, June 29, 2010 (UTC)

It's ok just can we move the page back to look like the other quest pages? such as bastok or windy or jueno.... etc. And the storyline progression is: CS zoning into Port Jueno => cs talking to that guy => cs at your first maw => cs back at the guy at jeuno => cs at all 3 maws. The first cs of the last 3 gives you like 50 of the new money (cruor?).

I am not sure that format is best, but it is better then nothing and no one else has a better idea right now on how to organize this page. --Icari 16:27, June 29, 2010 (UTC)

Frankly I think the old chart was a nice way to present the quests, with a little work it could have been made more clear that they can be done in any order as long as you meet the fame requirement. That said, it's fine the way it is now, just needs a little polish. Tahngarthortalk-contribs 00:07, June 30, 2010 (UTC)

removing recent scars of abyssea info, since this is visions of abyssea not scars of abyssea page.--Ashera 01:28, September 9, 2010 (UTC)

My LS just recently finished the 3 NMs in each Abyssea area and another CS and quest was triggered when returning to PJ and talking to Joachim. I'm working on adding quest information now. - Dedalos

linked quest rewards[]

My linkshell beat the quest bosses for Konschtat, Tahrongi, and Misareaux (NOT La Theine). We still got the third reward listed here and access to the subsequent quests. This implies that the quest bosses are all linked. I don't know if the pages for Vision and Scars should be consolidated somehow (or if this is the right place to mention it)- I'm just throwing the information out there.
