Notes:

  • Fished up using a Minnow as bait. Gugru Orobon can be fished up with 0 fishing skill.
  • Seems to be slow-moving, so kiting is your best bet if you catch this by accident.
  • Uses an attack called Vile Belch which afflicts a single target with Silence, as well as an AoE affliction of Plague, which slowly depletes your MP and TP over time. Be prepared if you intend to rely on MP to get you through the fight.
  • A Gugru Orobon's lures can be broken by striking it with a critical hit, WS, or JA which attacks it (Weapon Bash, for example). The severing-rate is not 100% for any of the following methods, so if you're after an Orobon Lure, try to land as many critical hits and WSs as possible.
  • Can be slept with relative ease. Both Sleep and Sleep II are effective.
  • Soloed by a Lv.75 PLD/WAR in only fishing gear, with a sword and a shield, with great difficulty (presumed that with armor the fight would be fairly easy.)
  • Soloed by a Lv.75 THF/NIN with great ease; Slow-hitting and easily blinked.
  • Soloed by a Lv.75 PLD/THF .... with pain !
  • Soloed by a Lv.75 DNC/NIN with only 3 Shihei.
  • Soloed by a Lv.75 DRK/SAM using a 'Weapon Bash >> Dread Spikes >> Guillotine >> Meditate' opening. Also, If you start to get low on HP, toss a stun and run. Drain 1 and 2, then continue, did not resist either when I used.
  • Soloed by a Lv.75 SMN/SCH using Carby. The NM doesn't hit Carby that hard, so you should be able to keep Carbuncle alive with Healing Ruby II. Watch out for the sleep move.
  • Soloed by a Lv. 75 DRG/BLU. Pretty simple and straightforward, but need to watch that Plague effect.
